FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN (1 degrees 9:14 pm PDT)

This Full Moon peaks less than 24 hours after the Sun enters Cancer: the summer solstice (in the Northern Hemisphere). This marks the yearly shift from yang to yin, from the dominance of solar (Sun) vibrations to lunar (moon) influence. The winter solstice, when the Sun enters Capricorn, signals the return of the light; the lengthening days draw us outward. Now, as the nights begin to grow longer, our attention is directed inward, toward more subtle developement; into the magic of the sacred feminine.

Cancer, the first water sign, is linked with the archetype of the Great Mother, the Cosmic Womb, the Void from which all creation grows. From New Moon to Full to New again, form emerges, ripens, and returns to the Source. Once more, we are at another turning point, another opportunity to view our spiritual progress and adjust our course.

Sun in Cancer. Moon in Capricorn. With the Sun in the sign ruled by the Moon and with the Moon directly opposite, attention is now on the balance between the yang and yin in each of us. The Sun in Cancer sheds light on what's healthy and what's harmful. What are we taking in? What is inspiring or enlivening us? And what is numbing or toxic? Where do we need to pause, be more receptive, let in more fresh air and nurturance? The Moon in Capricorn (Saturn) is Father Time, the Reaper, associated with the limits and consequences of physical reality. The Moon in Capricorn asks: Where do we need to be more responsible and realistic? Where do we need to release, let go of codependence - or martyrdom?

Three other planets now in Cancer encourage us to examine what we are taking in and where we could be more receptive, more attuned to the messages from our feelings and surroundings. Saturn, the ruling planet of Capricorn, is in the final month of his two-year stint in Cancer, where he has been pressuring us to clear out our emotional backlog and reclaim the power of the feminine. Saturn in Cancer reminds us that it's never too late to have a happy childhood, that we can re-parent our inner child and recover youthful joy and creativity. Venus and Mercury are inching closer to Saturn (exact the following weekend), counseling us to value the feminine and use its power to integrate and communicate the emotional issues we've been working on since Saturn entered Cancer in June 2003. Mars at 7° Aries squaring both the Sun and Moon, is pushing us to correct what's not in balance. The God of War in Aries drives us to be daring and break new ground for ourselves.

A Full Moon symbolizes the fulfillment of the seeds planted at a previous New Moon or some earlier cycle. Each Full Moon reminds us of the seeds we may have coming to maturity, to their fullness, to fruition, to the place where the fruits or gifts are received. It may seem that fullfillment of our goals takes a long time. Some intentions may manifest within the two week phase prior to the next New or Full Moon. Some however, depending on their complexity, may take a much longer time. Just remember that our thoughts set Universal Action in motion and much work takes place behind the scenes as everything is orchestrated for fullfilment. Keep visualizing your goals as though you have already attained them and they will eventually manifest. Patience is required.

Full Moon Ceremony Find the time to have your own private Full Moon Ceremony. You have a three day window of energy in which to manifest your intentions. The day before, the day of, and through the day after the Full Moon.

Jot down two or three areas of your life you want to clean up. The Full Moon is the time to release or get rid of the things in your life that no longer serve you, so by the next New Moon your slate is clean for new beginnings, or furtile for the planting of new seeds.

Possible phrasing: I now release______ from my life. I now release my destructive ________ patterns. I now let go of fear, Jealosy, anger, envy, negative thinking, etc... Remember, think and envision as though you have already let go of what you have released. See yourself free from anything holding you back from your dreams. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts and visuals about yourself. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, "We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. " If we want to be different then we must change our thoughts. "If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always get what you've always got." CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.
