FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS (26 degrees 10:54 am PDT, August 19th)

Every month brings a Full Moon, and every one is different. With the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Aquarius, the focus is on our personal and social destiny, what we desire to express as individuals and what we are choosing to experience as Humankind.

The spiritual journey of Leo-Aquarius is the quest for the Self, who we really are. This search necessitates forsaking the familiar. We must leave home and transcend parental and social conditioning, herd and tribal consciousness. After many trials, tests, and transformations, we return, sharing what we have gained and thus catalyzing collective changes. This is a journey we make more than once in our lives. Each time we go beyond the bounds of convention, we gain a larger perspective and a greater ability to serve. This Full Moon sheds light on where we are now -where we are challenging our personal and the collective status quo, where we are fighting the dragons of fear, and where we are ready to give our gifts to the world. The house in your natal chart occupied by the transiting Sun in Leo spotlights the area of life where you are ready to play a starring role;the house position of the transiting Moon in Aquarius signifies where you are discovering more kinship and synergistic power with others.

Full Moons are oppositions and shed light on the shadow side of each sign involved. As the evolutionary pace quickens, these archetypes become more polarized; their shadows, more clearly visible. The brighter the light, the darker the shadow. Leo rules the will of the individual; its shadow is self-centeredness. Aquarius rules the will of the collective; its shadow is hypocrisy. The insecure Leo demands an audience; the fearful Aquarian clings to alienation. This Full Moon shows us where we are holding onto old defenses and the unconscious payoffs they offer. This is a good time to ask wheather our comfort zone is the shawdow or the light.

Misery may love company, but shared hope is a strong force, too. Teaming up with individuals from our soul-group is facilitated by Jupiter at 16° Libra making the last of his three trines to Neptune in Aquarius (exact on August 17). Jupiter's first trine to Neptune on November 29, 2004 and the second on March 13, 2005 have made it easier for us to dissolve cultural barriers, find common ground, and build bridges of cooperation. The tight, hard aspect of Mercury in Leo to Uranus in Pisces also encourages us to connect with people, groups and concepts from outside our usual circle.

In the book, The Invisible Garment, Connie Kaplan describes the 27th degree of any sign as having the spiritual quality of Peace: "Peace is not the absence of war. Peace is emptiness, an emptiness that is so filled with holy energy that it does not need to be expressed. It is the emptiness that says I have no need, that allows for the experience of Oneness." This is the peace that both Leo and Aquarius seek. When we know who we truly are, we're not threatened by differences, and we appreciate the beauty of diversity.

Use the light of this Full Moon to assess where you are and where you want to go. Reflect on what brings you joy and what you see as your role at this challenging time on Earth. A Full Moon symbolizes the fulfillment of the seeds planted at a previous New Moon or some earlier cycle. Each Full Moon reminds us of the seeds we may have coming to maturity, to their fullness, to fruition, to the place where the fruits or gifts are received. It may seem that fullfillment of our goals takes a long time. Some intentions may manifest within the two week phase prior to the next New or Full Moon. Some however, depending on their complexity, may take a much longer time. Just remember that our thoughts set Universal Action in motion and much work takes place behind the scenes as everything is orchestrated for fullfilment. Keep visualizing your goals as though you have already attained them and they will eventually manifest. Patience is required.

Full Moon Ceremony Find the time to have your own private Full Moon Ceremony. You have a three day window of energy in which to manifest your intentions. The day before, the day of, and through the day after the Full Moon.

Jot down two or three areas of your life you want to clean up. The Full Moon is the time to release or get rid of the things in your life that no longer serve you, so by the next New Moon your slate is clean for new beginnings, or furtile for the planting of new seeds.

Possible phrasing: I now release______ from my life. I now release my destructive ________ patterns. I now let go of fear, Jealosy, anger, envy, negative thinking, etc... Remember, think and envision as though you have already let go of what you have released. See yourself free from anything holding you back from your dreams. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts and visuals about yourself. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, "We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. " If we want to be different then we must change our thoughts. "If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always get what you've always got." CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.
