Greetings,

A New Moon occurs about every 29 and ½ days when the Moon aligns with the Sun from the Earth’s perspective, thus, the Moon at a New Moon is invisible due to its proximity to the Sun. The New Moon is a conception point, a time when farmers plant their seeds, or a new adventure (or initiation) begins. Working with a clear intent during the New Moon window (the day before, day of and day after the exact New Moon) is a wonderful timing for collectively planting seeds, or prayers, for wholeness, healing, harmony, balance, peace, and so on. As the crescent Moon increases in light, growing bigger each night, it symbolizes the growth of the seeds planted at the New Moon to the fulfillment at the Full Moon.

As we think of those things we desire to attract into our lives it is well to ponder the words of Aristotle, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit".

The New Moon in Aquarius marks the Chinese New Year that always begins on the Aquarius New Moon. This is the year of the Fire Dog or Red Dog.

Reminder, Venus is Retrograde through the 3rd of February. January is not a good time to begin a new love relationship. Lay low until Venus goes direct on the 3rd before seeking a romantic interest.

NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS (10 degrees ) 6:15 am PST, Sunday, January 29.

When the Sun moves through the sign of Aquarius, daylight grows in the Northern Hemisphere, associating this sign with hope and progress. Not only are the Sun and Moon in Aquarius, but also Mercury, Chiron, and Neptune, turning our attention toward envisioning the future and our place in it. The Moon transits Aquarius once a month, and the Sun and Mercury are in that sign once each year; however, Chiron visits Aquarius only every 50 years, and Neptune even less frequently: every 168 years.

Is this the dawning of a New Age? Although there are various markers for when the Aquarian Age actually begins, there is little doubt that - environmentally, politically, financially, socially - we've reached a critical time and a critical mass. Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius and the planet of revolution, was next to Pluto, the planet of evolution, for most of the 1960s. Since that decade, there has been a steady increase in a group termed the "Cultural Creatives" by researchers Paul Ray and Sherry Anderson. Attributes of the Cultural Creatives parallel those associated with Aquarian ideals: equal rights, freedom of expression, valuing relationship and community, working toward unity in diversity. Cultural Creatives now comprise at least 26 percent of the U.S. population and an even higher percentage of some European countries. They cross all demographic lines of age, location, religion, and economic status, and they may not realize that there are millions of people who share their values. Aquarius, challenges us to release our fears and reown our projections. Because of Jupiter's retrograde motion, he will closely square Neptune until the end of April and will continue to unmask lies and deception and reveal new truths until his third and final square with Neptune on September 24. Saturn at 8° Leo opposes this New Moon, focusing our awareness on where we have abdicated our authority and where we need to see others as they really are. Venus is nearing the end of her retrograde stay in Saturn's sign, turning direct at 16° Capricorn on February 3rd.

This New Moon shows us: "We are at the junction of love and fear, and if we stay on the all-too-familiar path of ScareCity - we're totally forked ... we can do the same old same old and get the same old results, or ... we can try something different for a change. Instead of ScareCity, we can go for ABunDance. That is when we get up off of our assets, move our buns, and dance together in rhythm and flow. Can it work? Well, consider what hasn't worked." Opportunity Periods are a wonderful tool to maximize our efforts. Opportunity Periods reflect favorable aspects of the Moon. The energies of the Moon impact us in a very direct way. PLAN YOUR OWN NEW MOON CEREMONY. Give yourself some quiet time in meditation to see where you need to seed new ways of becoming. List these areas within your life you want to change. What areas do you want to break free from the norm and become more productive and discerning? The NEW MOON is the time to manifest the personal attributes you want to cultivate as well as the tangible things you want to bring to you. Possible phrasing: I now manifest ____ into my life. I am now _______ . Remember, think, envision and feel with as much emotion as possible, as though you already have what you want. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts, visuals and emotions. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, "We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. " If we want to be different than we must change our thoughts. "If you always do what you've always done then you'll always get what you've always got." CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.
