FULL MOON IN LEO (25 degrees) 8:45 pm PST, Sunday, February 12, 2006

Leo the Individual, Heart and Fire, opposite Aquarius, the Mind, Air and Humanity. This Full Moon asks us to remember our individual mission - the reason we chose to incarnate at this time and the part we came to play for humanity at this evolutionary stage on Earth.

Leo exemplifies the drive for unique expression of the divine, the embodiment of one's true nature. In the book, An Astrological Triptych, Dane Rudhyar wrote that, for the fifth sign, the greatest gift (and challenge) is simplicity - to transcend duality and drama and be simply who one is. Leo is associated with the image of the King and the Lion, symbolizing not rulership over others but the attainment of sovereignty over oneself. Where the Moon at 24° Leo falls in your chart is where you are being called to take the next step in expressing your unique self in all of creation.

For Aquarius, Rudhyar identified service as the greatest gift - to be a servant of humanity, acting for the good
of the whole. The Water Bearer pours out his wisdom for the welfare of all. The eleventh sign is the stage of development where we are no longer enslaved by convention or dogma and live in authenticity, equality, and diversity with family, race, religion, and nationality. Where the Sun at 24° Aquarius falls in your natal chart shows where you are making a break from the past and have the power to operate as an agent of change.

Full Moons bring light into whatever has been in the dark. The shadow side of Leo is self-absorption and a sense of entitlement. The dark side of Aquarius is hypocrisy and heartlessness. This Full Moon also shows where more light and love are needed for ourselves and for the world. Uranus, ruler of Aquarius, is in the third year of his eight-year stay in Pisces, breaking down the psychological and social programming that keeps us from seeing that we are all made of the same stuff, each with a divine spark. Uranus and Mercury are together during this Full Moon, encouraging us not only to think different, but also to stop thinking and become receptive to our intuitive wisdom.

Jupiter and Mars oppose each other and square the Sun and Moon, forming a wide fixed grand cross - an energy configuration that pushes for the breakup of "fixed" or longstanding patterns. Jupiter in Scorpio square the Sun and Moon helps us to see our fears in a new light, especially the trepidation of being different or or having a dissenting view. Jupiter also squares Neptune in Aquarius, making it easier to find common ground and shared goals. Mars's square to the Sun and Moon urges us to act on what we really want and need, while letting go of what's unnecessary or unfounded. Chiron's close opposition to Saturn in Leo suggests that sharing our truth can be healing for all concerned and that the most important thing we can do for the world is to become the person we were born to be. This Full Moon turns the light on where we are still trying to fit in, where we are still in the closet, and where our honesty and authenticity can make a difference in the world.

I will be including Opportunity Periods in the updates from now on. These are a wonderful tool to maximize our efforts. Opportunity Periods reflect favorable aspects of the Moon. The energies of the Moon impact us in a very direct way. Using the positive energies that the Moon showers upon the Earth, to our benefit, makes good sense. Opportunity Periods have proven to provide helpful energy to non routine tasks. If you feel like you are always going against the grain and things are stressful, try using these time periods for more easily accomplishing important tasks: purchases, repairs, client appointments, sales calls, important phone calls, finishing goals, starting new projects, tying up loose ends, starting new relationships ( except when Venus is Retrograde), job hunting, doctor visits, family meetings, etc.

Full Moon Ceremony Find the time to have your own private Full Moon Ceremony. You have a three day window of energy in which to manifest your intentions. The day before, the day of, and through the day after the Full Moon.

Jot down two or three areas of your life you want to clean up. The Full Moon is the time to release or get rid of the things in your life that no longer serve you, so by the next New Moon your slate is clean for new beginnings, or furtile for the planting of new seeds.

Possible phrasing: I now release______ from my life. I now release my destructive ________ patterns. I now let go of fear, jealosy, anger, envy, negative thinking, etc... Remember, think and envision as though you have already let go of what you have released. See yourself free from anything holding you back from your dreams. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts and visuals about yourself. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, "We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. " If we want to be different then we must change our thoughts. "If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always get what you've always got." CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.

A Full Moon symbolizes the fulfillment of the seeds planted at a previous New Moon or some earlier cycle. Each Full Moon reminds us of the seeds that may have coming to maturity, to their fullness, to fruition, to the place where the fruits or gifts are received. It may seem that fullfillment of our goals takes a long time. Some intentions may manifest within the two week phase prior to the next New or Full Moon. Some however, depending on their complexity, may take a much longer time. Just remember that our thoughts set Universal Action in motion and much work takes place behind the scenes as everything is orchestrated for fullfilment. Keep visualizing your goals as though you have already attained them and they will eventually manifest. Patience is required.
