NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE IN PISCES (29 degrees) 6:43 PST, Sunday, March 18 , 2007.

A New Moon in a mutable sign (Pisces, Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo) represents change, a possible adjustment to something already in place; a fine tuning. This New Moon is more complex as it includes a solar eclipse. A solar eclipse signals that we are closing out a major chapter in our life and interrupts old patterns and offers instructions for a higher level of understanding and being. The solar eclipse is followed immediately by the equinox on the 21st. These are huge influences in regard to ushering in the new. Exactly 19 years ago, on March 18, 1988, there was a solar eclipse at 27°42' Pisces. What was happening for you that spring? What is calling you now? What was important last September, when there was a solar eclipse at 29°20' Virgo, closely opposite this eclipse?

This solar eclipse at 28°07' Pisces draws us toward spiritual awakening, beyond the illusion of duality into a unified state of awareness where everything is connected and everything is divine. The twelfth sign deals with the end of the journey, the last stage, the return Home. Pisces represents the direct experience of God - no middleman, no dogma, just total acceptance of it all. A wise woman once said, "God don't make no junk." Pisces is universal heart, the heart that can hold it all: the good, the bad, and the seemingly indefensible; it's who we are without the ego's judgments and fears. When we've done it all, the only thing left to do is to love and be love. The Course in Miracles speaks to the ultimate goal of Pisces: "When you want only love, you will see nothing else."

Pluto at 29° Sagittarius closely squares the Sun and Moon, flushing out the religious and cultural programming that keeps us in fear and condemnation. The belief that we are born as sinners in need of redemption permeates the collective unconscious of Western civilization; many of us still wrestle with the Puritan ethic and other guilt-ridden conditioning. Pluto's passage through Sagittarius has been excavating the beliefs that block us from realizing our inherent divinity. How would we live differently if we knew that life on Earth is a choice, not a punishment? What would change if we saw that spirit and matter are the same? Pluto challenges us to question everything that closes our minds and hearts. Its current square to the Sun and Moon bids us to notice how it feels to judge someone else. Notice how it feels when you judge yourself.

Neptune, the ruling planet of Pisces, opposes Saturn in Leo, emphasizing the important message of love and forgiveness. Because both planets shift direction this spring (Saturn will station direct on April 19; Neptune turns retrograde on May 24), they are moving slowly and will continue to be in close opposition until the end of summer, when Saturn enters Virgo on September 2. Mars's approaching opposition to Saturn (exact on March 22) and its conjunction with Neptune on March 25 spur us to close the gap between our dreams and our reality. Jupiter's trine to Saturn deepens our faith and expands our sense of possibilities.

That this eclipse occurs the day before the spring equinox empathizes the message that we are ready for a new way of life. Pisces represents the alpha and omega, the infinite, eternal journey of creation. To more easily tune into your next step, schedule some quiet soul time, and meditate during the peak of the eclipse, if possible (6:43 p.m. PST). PLAN YOUR OWN NEW MOON CEREMONY. Give yourself some quiet time in meditation to see where you need to seed new ways of becoming. List these areas within your life you want to change. What areas do you want to break free from the norm and become more productive and discerning? The NEW MOON is the time to manifest the personal attributes you want to cultivate as well as the tangible things you want to bring to you. Possible phrasing: I now manifest ____ into my life. I am now _______ . Remember, think, envision and feel with as much emotion as possible, as though you already have what you want. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts, visuals and emotions. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, "We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. " If we want to be different than we must change our thoughts. "If you always do what you've always done then you'll always get what you've always got." CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.
