FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS May 31, 2007 at 06:04 pm PDT (11 degrees) BLUE MOON

The term “Blue Moon” originated from a Farmers’ Almanac editor, who used a blue pencil to circle the date of the fourth Full Moon occurring within a season. Because the interval between Full Moons is 29.5 days, and because seven of the twelve months of the year have 31 days, every two and a half to three years two Full Moons will fall within one calendar month. The term has since come to be associated with any “extra” Full Moon. The occurrence of a second Full Moon in a month is thus due to the structure of our calendar, and though it is not especially significant astrologically, it has gained prominence through widespread reference and repetition. The origin of the Blue Moon illustrates one of the themes of this Full Moon: the power of our mind and our attention in creating our reality. Over the next twenty years there will be a total of 17 Blue Moons. There will not be a Blue Moon in the years 2011, 2014, and 2017.

During the day of the Full Moon, and about two days before and after, are generally the most intense days of every Lunar Month. You may now notice that any differences in points of view, between you and others, seem more irksome. You may feel less tolerant than usual. The energies of this period of time are likely to bring powerful conflicts of ideals and principles between people, and between people versus authorities. It is good to be willing to hear the different opinions and perspectives of others, even if you don't agree with them - you might gain information that will help you later. If you are feeling an emotional "charge", then it might be helpful to ask yourself: "Why am I resistant to this other perspective?"

Full Moons shed light on the heights and depths of each sign. Gemini, the first air sign, deals with the individual development of language, thought, and communication. The Twins are best when ever-curious and able to listen as well as talk; the shadow side is the know-it-all or chatterbox. Sagittarius, the third fire sign, is concerned with the acquisition of wisdom gained from experience and exposure to different cultures and viewpoints. The best side is the sage who understands the big picture; its dark side is bigotry and dogmatism. Where do we need to listen, and where do we need to speak out? Jupiter, the ruling planet of Sagittarius, is at 15°32’ Sagittarius, conjunct the Moon and opposed the Sun, with the spotlight on questioning assumptions and discovering our truth. Gemini’s ruling planet, Mercury, is in Cancer. This is the time to check in with our heart. If it sounds good but doesn’t feel right, it’s not right.

There is also a very positive alignment (a Grand Trine) between the planets Mars, Jupiter and Saturn now, which is optimum for creating and / or starting something new! This is a great time for beginning a new business, stepping beyond your normal boundaries and expanding into a greater level of prosperity. This is an extraordinary period to rise to a new level of personal authority and success in whatever you desire. This is also a good time to travel.

This Full Moon closely squares the lunar nodes at 11°43’ Pisces—Virgo, (These are powerful intersecting points in a chart, not planets) thus forming a mutable grand cross. Mutable signs are concerned with thinking, integration and distribution: Gemini learns and communicates, Virgo analyzes and improves, Sagittarius interprets and teaches, and Pisces intuits and unifies. A grand cross challenges us to use each sign appropriately. The transiting North Node symbolizes our collective spiritual frontier, what we are evolving toward. In Pisces, the transiting North Node calls us to become more compassionate and aware of our inherent divinity. The transiting South Node (which is always opposite the transiting North Node) reflects the past — where we are coming from and what we need to let go of in order to advance. As the transiting lunar nodes pass through Pisces—Virgo (June 22, 2006 to December 17, 2007), humanity moves toward direct perception of and identification with the spiritual, by releasing the negative side of Virgo: servitude and self-deprecation. The last time the transiting lunar nodes were in this position was the period of December 1, 1987 to May 22, 1989 — a time of increased interest in and awakening to metaphysical truths.

Watch for important insights and revelations around this Full Moon. Remain as open as possible, for “the search for truth is more precious than its possession.” (Albert Einstein)

If you have a copy of your Natal chart, check which house 11 degrees Sagittarius falls in your chart. For you, this is where the greatest personal impact will be during this Full Moon period.

PERSONAL MOON CEREMONY Find the time to have your own private Moon Ceremony. You have a three day window of energy in which to manifest your intentions. The day before, the day of, and the day after.

For the Full Moon, jot down two or three areas of your life you want to clean up. The Full Moon is the time to release or get rid of the things that no longer serve you, so by the next New Moon your slate is clean for new beginnings, or fertile for the planting of new seeds.

Possible phrasing: I now release______ from my life. I now release my destructive ________ patterns. I now let go of fear, jealousy, anger, envy, negative thinking, etc... Remember, think and envision as though you have already let go of what you have released. See yourself free and living your dreams. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts and visuals about yourself. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, "We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. " If we want to be different then we must change our thoughts. What you think about grows!! "If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always get what you've always got." CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.

A Full Moon symbolizes the fulfillment of the seeds planted at a previous New Moon or some earlier cycle. Each Full Moon reminds us of the seeds that may be coming to maturity, to their fullness, to fruition, to the place where the fruits or gifts are received. It may seem that fulfillment of our goals takes a long time. Some intentions may manifest within the two week phase prior to the next New or Full Moon. Some however, depending on their complexity, may take a much longer time. Just remember that our thoughts and emotions set Universal Action in motion and much work takes place behind the scenes as everything is orchestrated for fulfillment. Keep visualizing your goals as though you have already attained them and they will eventually manifest. Do not concern yourself with current conditions or worry about controlling it. The universe takes care of those details. Just keep seeing what you want and give no energy to what you don't want. Patience is required.
