NEW MOON IN GEMINI (24 degrees) 8:14 pm PDT, Thursday June 14th, 2007.

This is what I would describe as a hyperactive New Moon. There are many opposing energies converging all at once. Mercury, Gemini's ruling planet, is also turning retrograde on June 15 in Cancer. However, it has already slowed down to an uncomfortable speed for Mercury which only seems to be happy when moving rapidly. We are currently in the slow down "storm" phase prior to it's actual retrograde motion on Friday. This puts a restraint on the high speed flow of information characteristic of Gemini and its season.

In 2007, all three of Mercury's retrograde stations occur in water signs, doubling Mercury's travel time through Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio. These retrogrades offer opportunities to clear emotional blockages, enabling us to feel connected with our higher self (Pisces), with our emotions (Cancer), and with others (Scorpio). When retrograde, Mercury invites us to spend more time in the upper and lower worlds, listening to our intuition and integrating what has been buried in the unconscious. Moving backward in Cancer, Mercury directs our attention inward, to catch up with our inner child, heal old wounds, and eliminate what's unhealthy for us.

The sign of Gemini is characterized by quickness of mind, the ability to absorb information at a rapid rate, often able to quickly and flexibly shift focus from one subject to another. This activity can be felt as frenetic and hyper. Business is more important than busy-ness this week, with responsible Saturn impacting the Sun and the Moon. It is a good time to act on what you already know rather than seeking additional data. Gemini loves choices, but this planetary environment rewards results.

Pluto, the planet most concerned with what is out of sight and out of mind, is opposite the Sun and Moon. Pluto represents the force of the unconscious: and in Sagittarius, the profound influence of our beliefs. Just as hyperactivity and a lack of focus can be problematic, rigid structure and inflexible beliefs hinder us as well. Pluto's opposition to this New Moon helps us to see through the social and religious programming that has kept us in fear and isolation. Pluto is the archetype of death and rebirth: his ongoing conjunction with the Galactic Center, the heart of our Milky Way Galaxy, indicates that humanity has reached an evolutionary threshold. The current challenge is the shift from duality to unity, from the illusion of separation to the realization of the divinity and interconnectedness of all things.

Uranus, the higher octave of Mercury, is also approaching his yearly turn retrograde on June 23 at 19' Pisces. Watch for important revelation, stay extra grounded, and remain ultra flexible around that day. The Awakener's retrograde phase in Pisces (until November 24) helps us to spot doorways and alternatives we might have missed earlier. Uranus in Pisces says: You have access to divine intelligence. Ask. Listen. Give thanks. Then act.

This New Moon advises us to remain open-minded and openhearted: "There is no path to truth, it must come to you. Truth can come to you only when your mind and heart are simple, clear, and there is love in your heart: not if your heart is filled with the things of the mind." (Krishnamurti)

PLAN YOUR OWN NEW MOON CEREMONY. Give yourself some quiet time in meditation to see where you need to seed new ways of becoming. List these areas within your life you want to change. What areas do you want to break free from the norm and become more productive and discerning? The NEW MOON is the time to manifest the personal attributes you want to cultivate as well as the tangible things you want to bring to you. Possible phrasing: I now manifest ____ into my life. I am now _______ . Remember, think, envision and feel with as much emotion as possible, as though you already have what you want. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts, visuals and emotions. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, "We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. " If we want to be different than we must change our thoughts. "If you always do what you've always done then you'll always get what you've always got." CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.
